This is part of the worldwide organisation started in Dublin by Frank Duff. It consists of lay catholics. The members of the Legion are primarily engaged in the ‘performance of the Spiritual Works of Mercy’.

The Legion of Mary is a Lay Apostolic Organisation of Catholic men and women over the age of 18 who assist the parish priest in the pastoral work of his parish. The Legion is both contemplative and active and the work that it undertakes in St. John’s parish involves visiting the sick, the lonely, the housebound and praying the rosary with them. Also included is the home to home visitation. Many different faiths are contacted as well as ‘lapsed Catholics’ are encouraged to return to the practice of their faith.

A Miraculous Medal and leaflet are left with them. The residential homes are also visited. If you have two hours to spare to do this vital work, plus one hour for the meeting, please contact Father Chris or Sister Noel.
